IFOCE contest & Man vs. Food coming to Mallie’s (Detroit area)

The News Herald reports that Mallie’s Sports Bar in Southgate, MI (Detroit area) will host an IFOCE sanctioned calamari contest on May 30 when it unveils a 185 pound burger to break the Guinness record it currently holds:

They are teaming with the International Federation of Competitive Eating for an eating contest May 30 during what they have pegged the restaurant’s Guinness Burger Eating weekend. They are offering a $5,000 cash prize to the winners of the eating competition, and will hold a preliminary contest to seek local eaters.

The preliminary contest will be a hot dog eating contest at 2 p.m. May 3 and 10. There are six spots.

At the official eating contest, contestants will be consuming calamari.

But that won’t be the end of it. In September, the Travel Channel show “Man v. Food” is slated to come to Mallie’s to eat an “absolutely ridiculous burger,” Mallie said.
