HeavyTable reports that Tom "Goose Gilbert" will attempt to win $1,000 by eating the 30 inch pizza at Randy's Pizza (Minneapolis area) tonight without assistance. The challenge will be webcast starting at 7:30 pm central (8:30 eastern). update The challenge is over and a video of the webcast is available.

The Man vs. Food facebook page has a list of radio stations that will hold on air eating challenges in the first week of August. This weekend, Man vs. Food has a both at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for conducting hot turkey leg eating challenges.
411Mania reports that Jose Conseco has withdrawn from tonight's match against Bill "El Wingador" Simmons. Pro wrestler Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake will replace him.

Philly.com on El Wingador vs. Canseco press conference

Philly.com has an article about yesterday’s press conference to promote tonight’s match between Jose Canseco and Bill “El Wingador” Simmons, who expressed dissatisfaction with his remuneration:

Only Canseco – because he’s the “name” – is paid a “celebrity appearance fee” upfront. That ticked off Simmons.

“[Feldman] is giving Canseco $10,000,” Simmons told me. “I’m only getting $2,000. That’s disrespectful.”

Simmons said he wanted $5,000 for tonight’s fight and threatened to withhold the $4,400 he claimed he raised from selling tickets.
