“Live” episode of Man vs. Food filming tomorrow

MiamiNewTimes.com reports that a portion of the “live” episode of Man vs. Food will be recorded at Don Shula’s Steakhouse at the Alexander Hotel in Miami tomorrow between 1 and 2:30 pm. The session is open to the public.

Tim Donaghy poll choice for Wing Bowl 18 commissioner

Pat Croce will apparently not return as commissioner of Wing Bowl 18. 610WIP’s Wing Bowl 18 page has a poll asking who should be the new commissioner. One of the choices is disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy.

Adam Richman will host an eating contest at AAA Great Vacations EXPO in Columbus, Ohio on January 23. Entrants should write up to 250 characters on why they should be selected on the EXPO facebook page. update The date appears to have been moved to Jan 24.
IFOCE.com announces that registration will open Thursday for the Fat Tuesday King Cake Eating Championship at the Showboat Atlantic City Hotel & Casino on February 16. WLOX is also awarding a slot in the peanut Butter & banana sandwich contest.

JB Boondocks Bar & Grill in the Orlando area will have a peanut eating contest on January 15 awarding $500 to the winner.
IFOCE.com has a list of expected entrants at Saturday's Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Eating Championship at the Isle in Biloxi, Mississppi. The eatfast facebook also announces that the MLE podcast will debut later this week.
Five "Wing Off" qualifiers are listed on 610WIP's Wing Bowl 18 page. The first "Wing Off" is January 7 at PJ Whelihan's in Haddonfield, NJ.

Angelo Cataldi contract extension status unclear

Michael Sautter noted that Wing Bowl co-founder Angelo Cataldi appeared on 610 WIP this morning after his previous contract expired at the end of 2009. Philly.com insider Michael Klein responded to Frank Klose that Cataldi did not sign an extension but will appear this week under his old contract.

The Great Moomsi to attempt sandwich challenge for charity

TheGreatMoomsi.com reports that Greg “The Great Moomsi” Maloomian will attempt “The World’s Biggest Corned Beef Sandwich” at Gus & Paul’s with a partner on January 16. Donations to Open Pantry Community Services are being accepted in conjunction with this challenge attempt.

(via Johnny D comment) The website KevinEatsIt.com and a youtube page have been set up to document Kevin Silber's Connecticut eating challenges. One of the videos shows Kevin finishing the Grizzly Challenge at the Black Bear Saloon in Milford, CT for the first time.

Greg Albrect is uploading pictures of Brit's attempt to be the first female finisher of the Kookamonga challenge at Kooky Canuck's in Memphis. update Brittany says she did not complete the burger but the restaurant staff told her she came closer to finishing that any previous female and that she ate more than Adam Richman did when he recorded an episode of Man vs. Food
The Middleton, Wisconsin (Madison area) Quaker Steak & Lube will hold a wing eating contest. Four weekly qualifiers will be held starting on January 12. The finals will take place on February 9.

The Great Moomsi & partners finish Zeus burger

TheGreatMoomsi.com has a video of Greg Maloomian and two teammates completing the Zeus Burger at the Clinton Station Diner in New Jersey. The listed weight of the burger is 12.5 pounds but the actual burger weight was over 14 pounds. A picture of the list of the diner’s challenges shows an award of $500 for a three person team finishing the Zeus in less than an hour.

The restaurant staff claimed that no team had previously completed the Zeus challenge, but a three person team in a 2005 AICE contest did finish the burger.
