According to the eatfeats database, today’s victory at the Buffalo Wing Festival is the first time Sonya Thomas has finished ahead of Joey Chestnut since the meat ball eating contest at the Tropicana in Atlantic City in December 2006 and the first time she has won a contest Joey Chestnut competed in since the chili cheese fry eating contest at the Queen Mary in Long Beach in February 2006.
