Albermarle All-Starts reports that Joey Chestnut is currently at Eagle's Deli in Boston attempting the challenge burger. update Pat Bertoletti announces he just ate a 6 pound burger and 5 pounds of fries.
The MLE facebook reports that the top 3 IFOCE members, Joey Chestnut, Pat Bertoletti & Bob Shoudt, are expected in the Upper Crust Pizza contest on Saturday. Other expected entrants are Eric "Badlands" Booker, Crazy Legs Conti and Larell Marie Mele.
The 7th annual Garlicky Greens eating contest will take place (apparently without IFOCE sanctioning) at the b.good in Harvard Square on Saturday. (Registration form)

Maria "The Incredible Sulk" has a blog entry about setting the house record of 21 hot dogs at Big Daddy's Hot Dogs in Pompton Lakes, NJ. She also has a report on eating 8.5 hot dogs at a Spike's Junkyard Dogs in Boston to win a T-shirt. (Greg "The Great Moomsi" Maloomian and an unnamed woman have set house records of 17 at Boston Spike's).
Registration for the September 1 rib eating contest at the Nugget in Sparks, NV (Reno area) will open today at 4 pm eastern. Registration for the September 25 Upper Crust Pizza contest in Boston and the September 11 burrito eating contest at the New Mexico State Fair will open tomorrow.
The MLE facebook announces that the Upper Crust Pizza Eating World championship will be held in Boston on September 25 and that the World Burrito Eating Championship might take place at the New Mexico State Fair on September 11.
McGreevy's in Boston will hold a 25 ounce Big-Mouth Beckett Burger eating contest on August 25. Entrants must raise at least $125 for the Josh Beckett Foundation and the winner will receive a pair of Red Sox tickets from Josh Beckett.
In the press conference announcing his signing with the Boston Celtics, Shaquille O'Neal stated he intends to compete against Glen "Big Baby" Davis in a chowder eating contest. NESN lists Crazy Legs Conti as another possible eating contest opponent for Shaq.

Furious Pete completes Eagle’s Deli challenge
“Furious” Pete Czerwinski’s facebook reports he completed that he completed the burger challenge at Eagle’s Deli in Boston which will be renamed the “Furious” Pete Burger. The total weight of the challenge is 12 pounds including a 5 pound pattie and 5 pounds of french fries.

2010 Boston Wing Bowl announced
98.5 The Sports Hub has announced the second Boston Wing Bowl. The finals will take place on February 4 and award $3,000 to the winner ($5,000 total purse). Entrants will qualify in 90 second on-air stunts next week.
update Three qualifiers will be held. The first will take place tomorrow at the Boston Beer Garden.
Valerie Feri completes “Fat Mac” challenge for new Food Network program
PatriotLedger has an article and gallery on the recording of a Food Network program at the Fat Cat Restaurant in Quincy, Massachusetts. Six diners attempted to complete the “Ultimate Fat Mac Challenge” which consists of 6 pounds of macaroni and cheese. Valerie Feri, who weighs 120 pounds, was the only person to complete the challenge in under an hour. The upcoming program was also the subject of a local television news segment.
Ms. Feri’s feat will be seen on “Outrageous Food Challenge” which appears to be a new series. Aaron McCargo Jr., winner of season four of the “Next Food Network Star”, will host. The episode is expected to be televised in April.
