The Associated Press reports that Takeru Kobayashi will do an eating exhibition at a rooftop bar in Manhattan located at 230 Fifth Avenue during the 2011 Nathan's finals on July 4. update Kobayashi's blog has a press release about the event which will be open to the public. Kobayashi will eat in sync with the televised Nathan's contest.
Smokin Mule in Cortland, NY (Syracuse area) will hold a pulled pork sandwich eating contest on July 30 awarding $500.
Two contests will award trips to the 2012 Nathan's finals. Specialty Food Group is running a sweepstakes that will award a trip for four to the 2012 finals and the St. Paul Saints will award a trip on July 23 for two to a person who tweets a picture of a wiener from the grill.
An eating contest will be held at the "Meat Destroyer" all you can eat BBQ in Tonawanda, NY tomorrow. The amount eaten by competitors during the entire day of the event will be kept track of, and the winner will receive a trip for two to Las Vegas. A ten minute hot dog contest will also be held.

The Brooklyn Eagle has an article on Sunday's pizza eating conetst at the Fifth Avenue Spring Festival in Brooklyn. Queerty reports an ice cream eating contest held before the pizza contest at state Senator Marty Golden's office will be infiltrated by homosexual activists.
The Fortune Magazine blog has reposted a 1938 article about Coney Island with a section about how Nathan's five cent hot dogs were damaging the business of Feltman's, an eatery famed for its frankfurters costing a dime. The article makes no mention of any hot dog eating contests. (via longreads)
