Qualifying is closed for the 2011 Go! Go! Curry! eating contest and the competitors in the May 28 finals have been announced. Joe Menchetti, Will Millender and Dave Goldstein had the top three times.

Sonya Thomas is not listed even though she appeared in the previous list of competitors.

Kobayashi calls IFOCE contract a “slave contract”

AOL Weird News has an article about Takeru Kobayashi being removed from the Nathan’s “Wall of Fame” which includes the following statement from Kobayashi via his translator Maggie James:

By not signing their contract, they will erase you from the wall. They are not deep about the spirit of history. They do as they wish. They are not presenting a contract that protects the league as a whole. They only present individual slave contracts which control each player in their category of value. Nothing protects the sport.

The current standings for the contest at Go! Go! Curry! in New York City have been posted on the restaurant's website. Tsuyoshi Shiina is the current leader with a time of 1:44. Qualifiers will be held today and on May 10 and 15.
Syracuse.com has a blog entry about the May 14 Salt Potato Eating World Championship listing Joey Chestnut, Sonya Thomas, Bob Shoudt and Tim Janus as expected entrants.
