The finals for this year's pizza eating contest at Dani's House of Pizza in Queens, NY will take place on August 13 and award $1250 ($750 to the winner). Weekly qualifiers will be held on Saturday from July 16 to August 6.

The Brooklyn Trolley Blogger reports that "Gentleman" Joe Menchetti defended his title in the Brooklyn Burger eating contest held at tonight's Coney Island Cyclone game by eating 16 burgers in 5 minutes.

Takeru Kobayashi has a blog entry (in English) about his hot dog eating exhibition on a Manhattan rooftop bar on July 4.
The Brooklyn Paper claims that Takeru Kobayashi actually ate 65 hot dogs at his rooftop event in Manhattan instead of the claimed 69. A Yardbarker report (via Kobayashi twitter) about the event claims that "credentialled 'spies'" from Nathan's were responsible for the claims of a miscount, but does not name the spies or state what their credentials were. A video with an alternate superimposed has been uploaded to youtube. (via Darren Rovell twitter) update A Gothamist commenter claims that Kobayashi received a $15,000 appearance fee from 230 Fifth, more than Nathan's first place prize money.
Two eating contests awarding a total of $250 will be held at KimChiPalooza at Governors Island, NYC on July 10.

An IFOCE rib eating contest has been held in July at the Chinook Winds Casino on the Oregon coast. There does not appear to be any information about a 2011 contest on the casino website.
