The University of Texas student newspaper has an article about the Austin veggie dog eating contest held on July 4. Scott Meyers won by eating 16 veggie dogs in 10 minutes. A gallery of the contest is also available.
Deadspin has a gallery of the Nathan's finals which includes a picture of the floor around the eaters' table after the contest.

PinoyFood has a blog entry about Tom "Goose" Gilbert's appearance in the Philippines promoting 7-11's hot dog eating contest. A video of Gilbert eating 10 hot dogs (using non-"picnic style" rules) in 3 minutes and 23 seconds is available. The twitter for the Alley Cat Club in Charlotte reports that Dale Boone won their hot dog contest last night by eating 27 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Nicholas Giffen's twitter reports he placed third and the runner up was a former Nathan's finalist.
The new poll asks who you think will win tomorrow's Nathan's finals. Paul Barlow has posted his predictions on his myspace blog. Buck Wolf, who has participated in radio broadcast of the Nathan's finals, predicts a Pat Bertoletti win.
This evening's ESPN Sportcenter had a long story on competitive eating which can be viewed online. The segment originally ran on E:60 in October and a reporter roundtable about the clip is also available.
CBS4 reports that Damon Serignet won this afternoon's hot dog eating contest in Miami.

KSO VI September 27, 2009 w/ 2 rule changes

The Krystal Square Off twitter has a link to a blog entry announcing that this year’s finals will take place on September 27. The blog also announces two new rules changes: one will limit “detritus”, the second modification is not described.

As for the other change, Brad Wahl, the vice president of marketing at The Krystal Company, shared, “Let’s just say it’s a really big change; one that will make this year’s competition the most exciting in the six-year history of the Krystal Square Off. Much like the way the three-point shot revolutionized the game of basketball, this new rule will drastically alter the way eaters approach our contest from a strategic level.”
