NESN.com reports that the Joey Chestnut Sampler, consisting of ten buffalo wings, eight chicken tenders, four sliders, four pan fried mozzarellas and six steak & cheese egg roll halves won its contest for the best sports bar menu item in the Boston-area.
Kevin Youkilis, formerly of the Red Sox and White Sox, signed a one year contract with the New York Yankees after he appeared in a 2009 episode (starts at 6:17 mark) of Man v. Food recorded at Eagle's Deli in Brighton, MA where Adam Richman was taunted with the chant "Yankees Suck". Matt Stonie was the male winner of today’s Nathan’s qualifier in Boston with a total of 42 hot dogs. Matt had to compete in a different area from the other competitors because the contest area was in the beer zone.

The Toasted Owl Tavern in Northampton, MA will hold a chili dog eating contest in June. Four qualifiers will be held on Wednesdays and the winner of each qualifier will receive Red Sox tickets. The finals will take place on June 30.

Matt Stonie’s Spike’s hot dog record broken?

The Spring 2012 issue of SUMOSkinny has a list of Boston eating challenges (page 5) reporting that the same woman holds the house hot dog record at all Spike’s Junkyard Dogs Boston locations. If that is accurate, Matt Stonie’s Spike’s record with 23 hot dogs set in late 2010 has been surpassed. A commenter on a 2009 livejournal entry encountered the record-holder at Spike’s during an attempt to surpass her mark, who said she would come in the next day to reclaim her record if it was broken.
