Tulsa World has an article about Man vs. Food: Nation recording at Elote in Tulsa Wednesday, where the challenge was breaking the house puffy taco record.
Edmond Life & Leisure reports that Adam Richman broke the 2010 record of 28 catfish pieces at the Steak and Catfish Barn in the Oklahoma City episode of Man vs. Food. The overall record of 45 pieces was set in 2009. Flickr has a picture of the wall of fame in 2008, when the record was 40 pieces.

IFOCE.com announces that registration opens today at 3pm for a new June 13 Nathan's qualifier at WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma (about 75 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth). There is also information about the two qualifiers for military personnel at Fort Bragg and Naval Air Station Oceana. (It does not say if the 20 hot dog minimum will be in effect for the military qualifiers)

Big Fat Ugly Sandwich Challenge
(from email) R & I Magazine has an article about giant sandwich challenges. A new challenge on the list is the Big Ugly Sandwich Challenge at the Fat Sandwich Company. According to the article, The Big Ugly contains:
four cheeseburgers, a double cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak, gyro meat, grilled chicken, bacon, sausage, pork roll, mozzarella sticks, chicken finger, chicken nuggets, macaroni-and-cheese bites, fried mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, pizza bites, onion rings, hash browns, American cheese, ketchup and mayonnaise
and is free to a diner who can finish it in less than 15 minutes. The Fat Sandwich company has locations in Norman, Oklahoma and Champaign, Illinois.

Tulsa BBQ purse $10K
The IFOCE contests page now lists the purse for Saturday’s pork barbecue sandwich eating contest at the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa at $10,000. The page also announces that registration is now closed, but slots appear to be available through Star 103 FM.
