Austinist has details about Joey Chestnut's appearance at the Austin Ice Cream Festival tomorrow, where he will compete against amateurs in a 6 minute ice cream eating contest. Sean "Wrecking Ball" Brockert gets a mention in the article and says that Joey's weekness is sweets. update WereAustin.com has a video of Joey's appearance on Austin Live today.
Joey Chestnut has an interview in Austin 360 where he says that he hopes to eat a gallon and a half of ice cream at the Austin Ice Cream Festival Saturday.
The Austin Ice Cream Festival twitter claims that Joey Chestnut will compete at the festival on August 14. The contest web page makes no mention of Chestnut or IFOCE affiliation for the eating contest.

There is now a new series in the works that will be a companion to Man V Food, and they are coming to Tucson to prove if El Guero Canelo really does have the best Sonoran dog in Tucson.
They are welcoming fans to the shoots where they will conduct interviews and then feature the ultimate Superfan on the show. They will also be pitting El Guero Canelo Vs a challenger.
A craigslist posting seeks audience members for Austin filming sessions that will take place from January 20-22.
WeAreAustin.com reports that Chris Floyd won the pizza eating contest held at Home Slice Pizza's Carnival O' Pizza for the fourth year in a row. Home Slice's blog and the Austin AV Club have interviews with Chris Floyd.

Runner to attempt breakfast taco record after 200 mile run
The200MileRun.com announces a non-stop run by Christopher Huang which will begin in Houston on Thursday, March 19 and end in Austin on Saturday. After completing the run, an attempt will be made to break the breakfast taco record at Juan in a Million, which is currently 7 by the “Hong Kong Hero”. The goal of the run is to raise money for Space12, a community center in East Austin.

This week’s challenge restaurant, Juan in a Million, has an online Wall of Fame for its breakfast taco challenge, but it does not appear to have been updated since about 2002. The actual current record is held by the “Hong Kong Hero” who ate 7 breakfast tacos in 2004.

Austin charity pizza duel between bikini-clad females
A gallery and video of a pizza eating contest held on Friday between between Debbie and Jennie are available. Both competitors wore bikini tops to the contest. A yelp thread lists the winner, but does not provide the amount eaten. $10 was charged for admission and the competition raised $117 for the Austin Food Bank.
Mystery eater finishes “Big Kahuna” burger
Patrick Michels has produced a blog entry and video about the Big Kahuna burger challenge at Pancho & Lefty’s in Hare, Texas. The only finisher of the challenge is by a customer who called himself David Walters and refused to be photographed by the restaurant staff. A picture of the $500 check awarded for finishing the burger is above.

The picture captions indicate that Chris (no last name provided) won the contest for the third straight year. A Tic-Tac-Toe T-shirt was made to outfit Chris’ entourages, which is one of the larger fan groups competitive eating

update In other Joey Chestnut video news, Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis noted that Joey Chestnut winning the bikini fries contest in Austin last year was the #2 video on youtube yesterday. It currently has almost 250,000 views. I have not been able to find cause for the traffic surge.
