Julia of Hellthy Junk Food uploaded a video of her competing in the Sweet 16 Challenge held at Jojo's Shake Bar in Orlando last month. Wayne Algenio won the local contest. Does anyone know who won the national $2000 prize? Jojo's Shakebar will hold a Sweet 16 Challenge at its Chicago, Naperville, Detroit, Orlando and Scottsdale, AZ locations on March 21. The fastest overall time to finish a 16 oz. milkshake, a double burger, a pound of fries and a 16 oz drink will win $2,000.
The Riverfront Times has an article about the Crown Candy Kitchen in St. Louis, home of probably the most famous milkshake challenge in the USA.
The reboot for Man v Food hosted by Casey Webb will debut on August 7. The initial episode will feature New York City restaurants and the challenge site will be the Lunchbox in Staten Island. Other cities visited in the series include Milwaukee, Chicago, Houston, Billings, MT, Charleston, SC, Sleepy Hollow, NY, New Orleans, Portland, OR & Des Moines.
Stephanie Wu announces that she set the house record at Crown Candy Kitchen in St. Louis with 9 milkshakes in 29:17, breaking a mark previously set by Joey Chestnut and Ben Monson.

Stephanie Wu finishes Big Texan challenge in 30:40

Stephanie Wu announced that she finished the 72 ounce steak challenge at The Big Texan in Amarillo, TX in 30:40. This would make the five fastest times for women in the official finishers list (a fire destroyed pre-1991 records)

In a 2000 Ripley’s Believe it or Not program, Carlene LeFevre finished the steak challenge in 32 minutes, which was billed as a new women’s record. (Results from that episode do not appear in the finishers list).

update Nov 12 On her trip, Stephanie also set the women’s record for the milkshake challenge at Crown Candy Kitchen in St. Louis and the overall Onion Burger record at Dust Bowl in Tulsa.

Punching Kitty: Ben Monson set Crown Candy Kitchen record

Punching Kitty has an update on the malt record recently set at the Crown Candy Kitchen by someone claiming to be Kevin Ross. The owner of the Crown Candy Kitchen, Andy Karandzieff, posted a picture of the record setter, and it is definitely not the Kevin Ross who qualified for the 2008 Nathan’s finals.

The “Kevin Ross” claimed to have completed the Pointersaurus, but no information is available on Pointer’s Pizza facebook.

update Barry Stagg reports that the #7 ranked eater (Ben Monson) ate the King Kong Burger challenge in 8 minutes at Ray’s Franks in Houston.
