“Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America†replaces Man vs. Food
A press release announces that “Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America” will be Adam Richman’s new show on the Travel Channel. The status of Man vs. Food is listed as “rested”, but reruns of the program will continue to be televised on the channel. update The program will debut June 6.
(The futility in ranking a large number of subjectively judged items brings to mind the episode of The Simpsons where the parody rock band Spinal Tap guest-starred: ST – Spinal Tap, BAM – DJs Bill & Marty)
BAM: Would you mind recording some promos?
ST: Like what?
BAM: Maybe you could say: “Nobody rocks like Bill and Marty on KBBL.”
ST: We don’t know that. What if somebody rocks as good as you? Or better. We don’t want to look stupid.
BAM: We respect that. How about: “Rock-a-doodle-doo! You’re listening to Bill and Marty” ?
ST: Yeah, sure. That’s good.
The metal band Municipal Waste will hold a burger eating contest against four randomly chosen fans in Hawthorne, CA on Friday.

A new promo video for America's Biggest Eater announces the program will award $100,000 to the overall winner. The twelve finalists will live in the same house during the contest.
Will Millender reports that a Kickstarter has a page seeking to raise $10,000 by March 13 for post-production of the documentary "Hungry", which will cover 366 days in competitive eating from July 4, 2010 to July 4, 2011. The page incorrectly says that prize money for the Nathan's women's division was less than the male awards; the payouts were made equal after public outcry.
In a Broadcasting & Cable article, Ken Lowe, the CEO of Scripps (owner of the Travel Channel), announces the cancellation of Man vs. Food and reports that Adam Richman will be appearing in new vehicles on the channel. Lowe said the program was not salvageable even though it was responsible for 42% of the network's primetime impressions.

TMZ.com reports that the Fear Factor episode in which the competitors drink donkey semen will apparently not be televised tomorrow. Update An #AirItNBC twitter hashtag has been started to encourage NBC to show the episode.

“America’s Biggest Eater” aims to be “American Idol” of eating
The facebook page for America’s Biggest Eater is accepting videos from amateur competitive eaters. Bill “El Wingador” Simmons will serve as host for the reality TV show, which has the following description:
Billed as “American Idol meets the Contender “, the show will feature “eat-offs” to narrow down a field of over 100 amateur eaters to ten finalists. The finalists will then compete in surprise elimination-style eating competitions for significant prizes, and the chance to be crowned by Elwingador as America’s Biggest Eater.
