Matt Stonie has taken the top spot in the MLE top 50 from Joey Chestnut. The switch appears to be the only change (cached version) ; Geoff Esper and Nela Zisser remain unranked. Joey took the top spot from Takeru Kobayashi on July 12, 2007, giving him a reign of 8 years and 2 days.
A championship parade will be held for Matt Stonie in San Jose on Friday.

An anonymous emailer noticed that Aaron Osthoff has removed from the #21 position of the MLE top 50 and everyone from #22-#50 appears to have been shifted up a notch. Jacob Larry has been inserted at #50 even though he does not appear to have competed in a MLE event since May 2012. update Aaron Osthoff will be competing in tonight's qualifier for the Dubuque Wing Bowl. The Harris Poll has released the results of a poll asking Americans about sports / competitive activities. Six percent of the respondents said they consider competitive eating a sport.
