KSWT reports that the board of the Stockton Asparagus Festival voted unanimously to terminate the event. A deep fried asparagus eating contest was one of the featured attractions at the festival.

Farrell's will hold its Splendiferously Superific Summer Spectacular Ice Cream Eating Challenge in Brea, CA on July 20. The professional contest will award $600 ($300 to the winner) and the qualification period is June 20 - July 13.
