The facebook page for By Golly's Bar & Grill announces that Joe LaRue set a record for the 2 pound burger challenge with a time of 7:26. The previous record was 18:36.

The bratwurst eating contest at Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati is expected to start at 3pm eastern. Joey Chestnut did interviews with WCPO, 700WLW and WLWT to promote the contest.
There will be two attempts at challenges which have never been completed today. Randy Santel will attempt the Ultimate Destroyer BBQ sandwich seen in the Kansas City episode of Man vs. Food and Scott Bickel will try to finish the 7 pound Dumpster burger at Cleats in Westlake, Ohio.
There is now another notable Mallory from Ohio in addition to Justine Bateman's character on Family Ties. In a column for the Bowling Green student newspaper about competitive eating, Amanda McGuire Rzicznek mentions that Mallory Roe, won $666 by eating 6 gyros in under an hour (gallery) at South Side 6.
The MLE facebook reports that Joey Chestnut, Tim Brown, Juliet Lee and David Solomon are expected to compete in the bratwurst contest at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati on Saturday.
Bizjournals.com reports that Joey Chestnut and 6 other top ten ranked IFOCE members will compete in the Pepto World Bratwurst Eating Championship in Cincinnati on Saturday.
Peta has a press release criticizing the Buffalo Wing Festival mentioning Sonya Thomas' victory in the wing eating contest (via Rhonda Evans) and This Dish is Veg has a blog entry finding fault with Cincinnati for holding a festival celebrating International Bacon Day with a picture of "Tiny" Tim Rauscheder competing in the bacon eating contest won by Mark Lyle.
IFOCE.com announces that registration for a bratwurst contest at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati on September 18 in Cincinnati will open tomorrow and registration for a moon pie contest at Lady Luck Caruthersville in southeast Missouri on October 16 will open Thursday. (Registration will probably also open soon for the cannoli eating contest at the San Gennaro Festival on September 16.)

Boulevard Blast in West Chester TWP, Ohio (North Cincinnati area) will hold a hot wing eating contest this weekend. Heats will be held on August 13 & 14, the finals awarding $500 will take place on Sunday. The contest will be judged not by speed or amount, but by who sweats the latest after eating wings that increase in spiciness.

The twitter for ESPN Cleveland reports that Bob "Killer" Kuhns repeated as Wing King of Cleveland in today's finals. Other finalists were the Mad Greek, Wing Assassin, Wags, Wing Blade and Bone Gobbler.
The Lake County (Cleveland-area) Captains will hold the "Captains Competitive Eating Olympics" on Wednesday, August 4 that will award 4 tickets to the Cleveland Indians Fan Cave to the winner. Competitors will receive one food item per inning that must be finished by the end of the inning to advance.
The Happy Dog in Cleveland will hold a hot dog eating contest tomorrow. Registration is $20.
Qualifiers for the Wing King of Cleveland will take place on Wednesdays in July at Cleveland-area Buffalo Wild Wings. "Tiny" Tim Rauscheder won the first qualifier.
The facebook for Melt Bar and Grill in Lakewood, OH reports that Christina Palangio was the 8th person (and first woman) to complete the five pound grilled cheese challenge. Her time was 21 minutes (Adam Richman needed 45 minutes on the Cleveland Man vs. Food. )
Cleveland.com has an article about "Tiny" Tim Rauscheder and Kevin "The Lion" Kordalski competing in a contest at the National Hamburger Festival in Akron on July 17.
