Brian Gray has a report on his wife's unsuccessful attempt at the 7 pound burrito at Jack n Grill in Denver. While talking with the waiter, he learned that a 105 pound female marathoner finished the burrito in about an hour, then she completed the challenge in 28 minutes to win a $20 bet during her next visit to the restaurant.

Pat Bertoletti vs. Eagle Brent Celek on ESPN2’s First Take Friday

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek will do a jalapeno eating contest on First Take on ESPN2 Friday. He is holding a contest on his facebook that will award an autograph to the fan who submits a video eating the most jalapenos in a minute.

update May 13 Celek’s competition will be Pat Bertoletti and four other ESPN employees. The MLE facebook says that the contest should start around 11:45 eastern.

Wide receiver D Yergey of the Philadelphia Liberty Belles says she can outeat any of the linewomen on her team in an eating contest.

Brittany Albrecht attempts Kookamonga challenge

Brittany Albrect has a blog entry about her attempt at the Kookamonga burger challenge at Kooky Canuck’s in Memphis in which she ate more of the 7.5 pound burger than any previous female challenger (and more than Adam Richman did in the Memphis episode of Man vs. Food as well).

Jack n Grill 7 pound burrito Wall of Fame

John Wenzel has a picture of the 7 pound breakfast burrito Wall of Fame at Jack n Grill in Denver showing the three women who have finished the challenge and will reportedly receive free food from the restaurant for life. Rager and Beer Monster has a blog entry about the wall of fame which says that the woman pictured flexing (reportedly a female bodybuilder) also ate a basket of chips and dessert along with her burrito.

Mongo Marquez also recently completed the challenge and ate dessert.

Gallery of St. Louis eating challenges

Metromix has a captioned gallery of St Louis area eating challenges. The prize for the pizza challenge at Talayna’s is now $2000 (the challenge requires both members of a 2 person team to each drink a pitcher of soda in addition to eating a 30 inch pizza.)

In other St. Louis eating challenge news, bodybuilder Isabelle Turell announces that she intends to take on the Pointersaurus challenge with her fiance in May.

SoCal BBQ buffet battle of the sexes tomorrow

A yelp post announces an untimed eating contest based on the number of plates consumed will be held at the Garden Buffet BBQ & Seafood in Artesia, California tomorrow night. Yuki M, who claims to have eaten 7,000 calories a day at her height of training as a powerlifter, will represent the XX chromosome in that event. An older post about the contest is also available.

Isabelle Turell’s myspace page lists her ethnicity as Hispanic. Orange County taco champion Karina Muniz and “Nurse” Caterina of the Heart Attack Grill would be Isabelle’s only rivals for the title of top Latina competitive eater that I am aware of.

Olympic perfect game pitcher is CE fan

Monica Abbott did not allow a baserunner when she pitched the USA’s softball team to an 8-0 victory over the Netherlands on Sunday, which is believed to be the first perfect game in Olympics history (The game was truncated to five innings due to the runs ahead rule)

Abbott lists herself as a competitive eating fan on her yardbarker page. She has three classes left to complete her degree at the University of Tennessee according to her NBC profile, so maybe she could compete in the Knoxville Krystal qualifier. (At 6’3″ and 193 lbs, Monica is approximately the same size as Michael Phelps.)
