ABC has an information page about yesterday’s Wife Swap episode featuring the Booker & Alcorn families. The family instruction manuals offer some information that was not shown in the broadcast:
- Badlands wanted to appear to promote his rap career. Regina did not want to appear at all
- Badlands leaves for work at 2am
- The Bookers are very active in their church, which was not mentioned
- Regina works for a major phone company as a supervisor in business collections and says “Being stern with customers all day means when I get home the last thing I want to do is be a disciplinarian”
- Brandon has contributed beats to his father’s CDs
- The episode was filmed during the summer, so Brandon did not need to go to school. (I thought the show made it look like the Bookers were condoning Brandon skipping school
- The Alcorns have 23 pets, which were not displayed probably because it would have made them appear softer
Video captures of the episode are available after the jump:

(Thanks Skinnyboy) “Wife Swap” was not Eric “Badlands” Booker’s only appearance on television last night. The Food Network reran a show about record breakers. One of the segments of that show was about a burrito contest from 2002 won by Booker. Andrew “Skinnyboy” Lane recorded clips from that show and uploaded them.

In his latest blog entry, Wing Tut predicts that some ranked IFOCE members will leave IFOCE because the loss of GoldenPalace’s sponsorship will decrease the amount winnable by eaters ranked outside the top 10.
The new poll asks if you think the standard prize distribution for IFOCE contests should be changed to award more to lower finishers to prevent this possibility or is there another change (if any) you would more like to see.

The Daily Citizen has an article about Jessica Beall of Bloomfield Indiana who won a pizza eating contest for high school students. Jessica was the only member of the mostly male field to finish her large pizza under the time limit of 8 minutes. Jessica says her role model is “Mushmouth” Machetti (actually “Mushmouth” Mariano) who competed in pizza eating contests on local Cleveland television in the 1970s (and is mentioned on page 67 of Horsemen of the Esophagus) Jessica hopes to eventually compete in the Nathan’s finals, but she will have to wait until she turns 18 to qualify.
The Daily Citizen also has an article about the 2005 pizza contest. Jessica was ineligible to compete in that because she was an employee of the restaurant sponsoring the contest, but she claims to have won her age category the preceding three years and has also won pizza contests in Cincinatti, Indianapolis and Terre Haute.

(from “the Hangman” & “Wild Bill”) The ifoce schedule no longer lists the chicken strips contest that was to be held at the South Carolina State Fair on Friday, so it is safe to assume it will not take place. This denies Dale Boone an opportunity to see if his momentum continues from his Krystal win.
A posole eating contest will be held at the Sky City Casino in New Mexico on November 18. This is the second posole contest held at that site.

The Meathaus blog has an entry about Jenny Drumgoole’s video projects. I addition to her documentary about Sonya Thomas at the 2005 Wing Bowl, she has also done a more non-linear project called “Husky” (Part 1/2, Part 3):
In Husky, Jenny weaves together a dream/ reality hybrid that combines the real-life footage of herself drunkenly harassing the cops, riding a tow-truck, and taping her gynecology check-up from a secret camera hidden in her bag with the elements of her other-self, a leopard-print unitard wearing hoagie-loving “husky bitch†who wears her lipstick all over her neck and loves to fling thousand island dressing all over herself and the frat boys who mistakenly think that they are about to get a free-show.

Here is Brian Seiken’s answer to who inspired the following eaters: Charles Hardy, Cookie Jarvis, Don “Moses” Lerman and Brian Seiken:
Hardy’s union boss insisted he compete in a Nathans hot dog civil service contest for publicity in 1998 and he refused until his wife told him to go out and have some fun.
Jarvis father in law bet that jarvis couldnt win a matzah ball contest because he wasnt jewish. Jarvis entered a Bens matzah ball qualifier in 2001 . rest is history
Lermans nephew Ryan who used to accompany him to the contests for support saw a sign for the same Ben’s contest a year earlier and thought his uncle could take the title which he did.
My sister saw a sign for a Nathans hot dog contest in 1997 in oceanside ny. I thought it would be fun. Never knew it would get me to this level 9 yrs later
