VS Talent Group is looking for a male competitive eater between 20 and 35. The project and filming location is not disclosed, it appears to be in NYC or New Jersey.
MrCapKevGamer has uploaded a walkthrough of the section of The Simpsons video game where Homer competes in an eating contest called "Around the World in 80 bites". The competitions's defending champion (appears at end of video) is based on Takeru Kobayashi.
After interviewing President Obama last year, youtube star Glozell Green will ask Hillary Clinton questions on a Lifetime TV program on January 13. GloZell's cinnamon challenge video has received over 47 million views, making it probably the most watched food challenge video.

2016 Battle of the Big Eaters Teams
TV Tokyo has a page about the Battle of the Big Eaters program that will be televised on January 1. The teams:
- USA: Molly Schuyler, Pat Bertoletti, Bob Shoudt, Tom Gilbert
- UK: Adam “Beard Meats Food” Moran, Emma Dalton, Leah Shutkever, Marc
- Japan: Hatsuyo Sugawara, Hitomi “Russian” Sato, Moeno Azuki, male I don’t recognize
- Taiwan: Chien Shu, You Lin (?), Ming Che, Ya Lin
It is interesting that Taiwan got a team when competitive eating appears to be a lot bigger in other Asian countries (Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, …)
