Las Cruces Sun-News has an article about Stephanie Torres competing in the Crif Dog Classic. She says that she wanted to appear in the Bones competitive eating episode, but was denied by Major League Eating.
Eric "Silo" Dahl reports he won today's National Lutefisk Eating Championship in Spring Grove, MN with a total of 9.5 pounds in 6 minutes. Mark "Muncher" Williams was runner up.
Andrew Lane has a blog entry about the wall of fame for the 6.5 pound sopapilla challenge at Sadie's in Albuquerque. Five people have completed the challenge in under an hour including Ben Monson, Stephanie Torres and Patrick Vandam. The second fastest time is held by Karen S., who appears to be "Jane Dough" on the Mac Daddy pancake challenge wall of fame.
The Las Cruces Bulletin reports that Tom Gilbert won Sunday's eating contest at the Enchilada Fiesta and donated $900 of his $1000 prize. Stephanie Torres was the runner-up.

The burrito eating contest at the New Mexico State Fair is expected to start at 4:30 pm eastern. Tim Brown is expected to compete in addition to Joey Chestnut.
KOB.com reports that Joey Chestnut will compete in the Garcia’s World Burrito Eating Championship, at the New Mexico State Fair on September 11. Erik Denmark is also expected to compete.
