Vida en el Valle reports there will be a Major League Eating taco contest at the Fresno Grizzlies ballpark on July 29. An amateur qualifier will be held the day before.
The Submarine House in Huber Heights, OH will hold the Super Duper Cheesesteak Challenge on April 22 awarding $1000 to the winner. Entrants need to qualify by eating a 16 inch sandwich in under 16 minutes by April 2. Semi-finals will be held from April 6 to April 13.
An amateur croqueta contest awarding $300/$150/$50 will take place before the MLE competition on Sunday at Calle Ocho in Miami.

Bob Shoudt finished the Great Steak Challenge at Steak and Main in North East, MD in 12 minutes yesterday to set the men’s record. The field for the Peeps eating contest in National Harbor, MD April 8 has been announced: Matt Stonie, Carmen Cincotti, Geoffrey Esper, Gideon Oji, Juan Rodriguez, Juliet Lee, Yasir Salem, Badlands Booker, Kevin Ambs, Matt Cohen, Nathan Biller, Crazy Legs Conti and Bill Myers. If Sonya Thomas does not compete, this will be the fourth DC-area contest in a that she has missed.
The MLE twitter announces that the chili eating contest that was to have been held this afternoon at the Spirit of Texas Festival in College Station, TX will not take place today.
The Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge will take place at the Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival in Doheny Beach, CA on April 8. Takeru Kobayashi is expected to defend his title. Additional competitors include Molly Schuyler, Dave Brunelli, Erik Lamkin, Naader Reda, Kevin Ross and Finnish champion Jesse Pynnönen. A contest for amateurs will also be held.
