Sports Illustrated has a long article on the state of Kobayashi’s post-MLE career and the devolution of his relationship with that organizaion. He is unwilling to go near Nathan’s Coney Island store despite living in Brooklyn. The article mentions plans for a big Chicago eating contest this year that fell through. Here are the personal bests for the past year for people who competed in the 2015-16 Nathan’s qualifier circuit. Steve Hendry did not receive a finals spot despite having the 7th best overall total. Carmen Cincotti’s surprise performance prevented the 2015-16 qualifier circuit from having no 40+ totals for the first time since 2004-5. (The leftmost column does not take ties into account.)

Matt Cohen noticed that Carmen Cincotti was inserted at #15 in the MLE top 50, ejecting Brian Seiken from the bottom of that list. Eric “Steakbellie” Livingston and Ben Do remain ranked despite not competing since 2014.
Brian Seiken’s removal terminates the longest ranked streak in IFOCE / MLE history, which dates from at least February 2002 according to the Internet Archive
Crazy Legs Conti now appears to have the longest ranked streak, which dates from at least October 2002. (Eric “Badlands” Booker took a hiatus in 2007, breaking his ranked streak.)
