The field has been announced for the chili eating contest at Taste of DC on October 10: Joey Chestnut, Tim Janus, Sonya Thomas, Juliet Lee, Yasir Salem, Gideon Oji, Badlands Booker, Brian Dudzinski, Bill Myers, Mary Bowers and Eric Livingston. The Jakarta Post has an interview with Takeru Kobayashi in English. He says that his peak year for Japanese competitive eating income was 2001, when he earned about $250,000. Taco in a Bag will announce today the time Takeru Kobayashi needed to finish the Taco Trough challenge. This attempt will but two of his streaks on the line: a post-MLE streak now extending 5 years and a career undefeated streak vs. women. Molly Schuyler is the current leader at 2:24 with Bob Shoudt the current runner up with a time of 3:14.
