Las Vacas Meat Shop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia reports that a woman won its steak eating contest by eating 1.9 kg (4.2 pounds) of meat in 30 minutes. update The winner was Tiong Sue Lynn "Bangsar Babe" and she has a blog entry and gallery about the contest. This was her first ever eating contest.
La Tolteca in Phoenix will hold a Super Torta eating contest on April 19 awarding $300 to the winner.

Will Millender has posted a picture of the field for today’s cheese fries eating contest in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Naader Reda and Jessica “Queen of Cuisine” are last minute entries. Stephanie Torres is dressed appropriately for the National Spring Break Eating Championship. The contest received coverage on the front page of the local paper.

I think Justin Mih is the first former member of the IFOCE top 50 to be allowed back into the IFOCE/MLE after competing in an AICE/All Pro Eating contest. (Larry McNeil competed in last year’s Atlanta Nathan’s qualifier after joining the WLOCE.)

Nathan’s 2012 qualifier registration opens
Registration for the 2012 Nathan’s qualifiers (except Naples, FL) are now open on the contest pages on IFOCE.com. The Calgary qualifier is open to everyone regardless of citizenship.
Wild card berths will be awarded to both the top male and female runner-ups. Dee Martin would have taken last year’s women wild card with 9 HDB if it was awarded.
