Richard Shea called the winner of last year’s cannoli contest “US Fail”.

Regis Philbin refereed 1963 eating contest featuring Ernie Ladd

The MLE facebook announces that Pat Bertoletti, Tim Janus and Crazy Legs Conti will attempt to break the record for banana eating on tomorrow’s episode of Live with Regis & Kelly.

Regis Philbin had previous involvement with competitive eating before the debut of Live with Regis & Kelly. In 1963, he served as a referee for an eating contest between San Diego Charger defensive lineman / pro wrestler Ernie “Big Cat” Ladd and Nick Cordileone. Flickr has a picture of the program for the contest.

Pat Bertoletti will stay in New York City and compete in Thursday’s cannoli contest in an attempt to obtain his 36th record. Eric “Badlands” Booker and Maria “Edible” have also been announced as entrants.

Pat Bertoletti & Tim Brown food truck web page

A web page for Pat Bertoletti and Tim Brown’s food truck has been set up at http://www.gluttonforcefive.com/ (Sir Snugglesworth, Partybot and Pink Unicorn are the other team members.) The truck is offering a sandwich eating challenge awarding $500 to a customer that can beat Pat or Tim’s time. A facebook with a picture of the back of the truck and twitter have also been started. Pat Bertoletti appears on the Sklar brothers (hosts of ESPN Classic's Cheap Seats) recent podcast (Pat's appearance starts around the 5 minute mark) to talk about his runner-up finish in the men's Nathan's finals. (Pat's "Henderson" headband was a tribute to the Sklars.) Pat announces that he and Tim Brown have purchased a food truck and calls Joey Chestnut "washed up" and "burned out" despite losing to Chestnut 9 of the last 11 times he has faced him (see comments).
