Spanish food challengers "Joe Burgerchallenge" and "Dave Cheats" have started a trip in Chicago in which they will do food challenges in restaurants along Route 66. The tour will conclude in Los Angeles where they will be part of a team attempting the 54 inch pizza challenge at Big Mama's & Papa's. update May 16 A four person team finished the 10 pound meatball sub challenge at Bartolini's in Midlothian in 4:48, IL and won $2500.

The Daily Mail reports that Russian competitive eater/bodybuilder Sergey Medvedev was arrested in Thailand on February 2. He is the alleged co-founder of the cybercrime organization “Infraud”, which has defrauded $530 million from Americans since 2010 according to federal prosecutors. The arrest followed a two year probe by the US Justice Department and Medvedev is expected to be extradited to the USA in about a month. “The Bear” labeled himself “the first Russian competitive eater” on his Instagram and had a youtube channel devoted to food challenges and strength training. update The FBI claims that Medvedev possessed over $800 million worth of bitcoins at the time of his arrest. Team Chomp, consisting of Joey Chestnut and Tim "Eater X" Janus, was eliminated from season 30 of The Amazing Race after they had difficulty solving a puzzle based on a Van Gogh painting at the end of last night's episode recorded in south France. They were beat out for the final spot by Team Wellstrung, a pair of bodybuilding violinists. Other challenges Team Chomp did yesterday included boating with a single person sailboat, catapult construction, sandal making and a bocce style game called petanque.
