The Los Angeles Times has a preview of Saturday's gyoza eating contest with quotes from Sonya Thomas and Matt Stonie.
Michelle "Cardboard Shell" Lesco, Stephanie Torres and Matt Stonie are not just participating in the gyoza contest Saturday, they are also competing to see who can raise the most money for clean water projects in developing nations. An IFOCE rib eating contest has been held in July at the Chinook Winds Casino on the Oregon coast. There does not appear to be any information about a 2011 contest on the casino website.
The Los Angeles Daily News reports that female winners of Nathan's qualifiers who ate less that 10 hot dogs will not receive all-expenses paid trips to Coney Island for the finals, so Hawthorne, CA qualifier winner Christine Kitchenmaster will not compete.

LA Weekly lists Matt Stonie, Damon Wells and Kevin Ross as expected entrants in Sunday's Nathan's qualifier in Hawthorne, CA. Christine Kitchenmaster is the only woman listed.
