Chef Mark Smith of the Tortilla Press in Collingswood, NJ has posted the following twitter update: “I can’t believe she ate the whole thing [a five pound burrito] …..my twitter friend @styrovor“
A clam eating contest awarding Philadelphia Eagles tickets will be held in Sea Isle, NJ on Saturday. Howard Eskin of 610 WIP will serve as judge.
Audience members wanted for Conti & Janus on Cake Boss
An associate producer for the TLC program Cake Boss sent the following email:
Next Wednesday, September 2nd, Timothy Janus (Eater X, ranked #4 in the world) and Crazy Legs Conti (ranked #14) will be meeting up at a downtown restaurant in Hoboken, New Jersey for some cake-eating craziness.
Currently, we have limited openings for seating at the event but I’d love to get people passionate about competitive eating in the audience! We need NY/NJ-based individuals interested in attending to RSVP to hobokenproject@gmail.com with their full name, age, contact info (including phone number for confirmation) as soon as possible. Guests will need to arrive at the site at 3pm on Wednesday, and with confirmation of their email we’ll send them an address to the location.
A wing eating contest will be held at tonight's Newark Bears game. Comedian Artie Lange will also appear (the web site does not say if he will compete in the wing contest)

The Hudson Reporter reports that 71 year old Joseph Wigdor ate 14 hot dogs in Saturday's hot dog eating contest in Bayonne, NJ, which placed him third at the end of reguation time.
NJ.com has an article about the hot dog eating contest at Petridis Hot Dogs in Bayonne, NJ won by Giovanni Costa with 19 hot dogs. The top 3 won health club memberships of varying length.
Sweet Avenue in Rutherford, NJ will have a cupcake eating contest at CupcakeFest tomorrow.
NJ.com has a report on Joel "The Cannon" Podelsky's victory at a pasta eating contest at Trattoria Bel Paese on Sunday. The first prize was a 26 inch flat screen television.
Juliet Lee wins Atlantic City Nathan’s qualifier

2) Pat “from Moonachie” Philbin 26
3) Allen “Shredder” Goldstein 23
This makes Juliet Lee the second woman to break 30 HDB.

New baseball burger challenges
BottomLineSox announces that the 1 pound 9 ounce McGreevy’s Beckett Burger will debut at McGreevy’s this afternoon. Josh Beckett will be present at the restaurant until 3 pm today and award Red Sox tickets. The burger weight was selected to honor of Josh Beckett’s #19 uniform number. The burger price is $30 and a portion of the cost will go to the Josh Beckett Foundation. All purchasers will receive one of two T shirts which will announce whether they succeeded or failed in the challenge.
The Trenton Thunder have also started the Thunder Burger Challenge which consists of three grilled cheese sandwiches separated by half pound burger patties. The burger is free if it is finished in under 30 minutes and all finishers will be invited to a contest on August 28. (Will this bring central New Jersey’s most famous burger eater out of retirement?)

Dan Gross' column in philly.com has a paragraph about the Atlantic City Nathan's qualifier listing Dave "U.S. Male" Goldstein, Micah "Wing Kong" Collins, Eric "Steakbellie" Livingston and Jeff "The Natural" Olson as expected entrants.
The Newark Food Examiner has an article about the Clinton Station Diner's giant burgers, which mentions the contest last year in which a Japanese team participated.
New poll: brine drinking as a crawfish tactic
The Press of Atlantic City reports that the top two finishers in the crawfish eating contest, Dave “US Male” Goldstein and Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas both drank the brine water from the crawfish tray during the competition. The water weight was counted as crawfish mass in the once the post-contest weight was subtracted from the original value. The new poll asks if you think that this was a legitimate tactic.

Dave “US Male” Goldstein wins crawfish
6ABC.com has an article and video from today’s crawfish eating contest at the Showboat Mardi Gras Casino in Atlantic City which reports that Dave “US Male” Goldstein was the unexpected winner of the contest with a total of 4.99 lbs. in 12 minutes. Sonya “The Black Widow” was second.

Contest will feature eater Tim “Eater X†Janus, the tamale and burrito eating champion of the world and the sweet corn champion Crazy Legs Conti. Also competing are the top two female competitive eaters Juliet Lee and Sonya “The Black Widow†Thomas. Philly-area fan favorites Eric “Steakbellie†Livingston and Micah “Wing Kong†Collins will also compete.

$5,000 “8th Wonder” challenge at Clinton Station Diner
A picture of a list of burger challenges offered by the Clinton Station Diner can be viewed on flickr. $5,000 will be awarded to a team of 10 diners that can finish the “8th Wonder” burger (listed at 105 pounds) in an hour or less.
Oyster Bowl X results
Results from last Sunday’s Oyster Bowl contest have been posted to the contest website.
Chris Stevens set a record by eating 102 oysters in 2 minutes and Oyster Bow IX winner Jayson Taylor was the runner up with 96. Theza Friedman was the women’s winner with 96. Additional results have been entered in the eatfeats database.

Registration for Atlantic City crawfish tomorrow
IFOCE.com announces that registration for the crawfish eating contest that will be held at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City on February 24 will open tomorrow at 2pm eastern.
The contest has yet to be listed on the IFOCE contests list or the casino’s events page.
updateCrawfish notices the contest information has now been posted. The contest will start at 2pm and prizes have yet to be determined.
An expanded disclaimer appears at the bottom of the contest page, granting the IFOCE the right to reject any entrant and change any term of the contest.
Atlantic City wing contest Feb 7 – first prize is flat screen TV
