John A. Ernst Jr. has been projected as the winner over Dale Boone in the Brookhaven, GA mayoral election. As of 9:46 pm, Ernst had a lead of 2,044 votes to 343.
James Carter, grandson of the 39th president, tweeted a link to a document claiming that Boone threatened Ernst supporters.
Joey Chestnut has been announced as a competitor in the gumbo eating contest in Larose, LA on November 7. Miki Sudo, Sonya Thomas and Adrian Morgan are also expected to compete. update Nate Biller, Crazy Legs Conti, Corey Fanguy and Matt Raible are also expected. Adrian Morgan appeared on WWL to promote the contest.

This summer, Seaver "The Achiever" Miller won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the World Police & Fire Games in Northern Virginia. Intestinal issues forced the termination of Seaver's competitive eating career in 2007.
Competitive Eaters diagnosed with cancer
- Balinda Gould ate 42.5 chili dogs in four hours at the Rockford Corner Bar in 2005 to break a 23 year old record and claim a $500 prize. In 2011, she passed away from cancer at the age of 46. (As far as I know, the chili dog record was the only eating contest or challenge she attempted.)
- “Furious” Pete Czewinski Diagnosed with cancer in 2014, requiring the removal of a testicle. Unfortunately that did not stop the spread of the cancer, resulting in radiation therapy in 2015.
- Ed “Cookie” Jarvis Diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2010 He has had 11 tumors removed (some non-cancerous) according to a July 2012 Deadspin article.
- Curtis Sliwa the Guardian Angels founder and 1994 Nathan’s 3rd place finisher was diagnosed with prostrate cancer in 2011.
