The field for this year's tamale eating contest in Lewisville, TX on September 26 has been announced: Miki Sudo, Erik Denmark, Adrian Morgan, Michelle Lesco, Nate Biller, Josh Miller, Bam Martinez, Corey Fanguy, Alex Perez. Defending champion Joey Chestnut (along with all other previous winners) and Matt Stonie are not expected to compete.

DNAInfo reports that someone who can finish the 6 pound "Big Jim Reeves" and a half liter of Kickapoo Joy Juice will in 4:09 or less will win $5000. A finishing time of 4:10 - 6:09 will result in a $2000 prize. Professional eaters including Kobayashi and Molly Schuyler are welcome to compete in the contest.
