The Guardian has a preview of tomorrow's pie eating contest at Harry's Bar in Wigan, England, which has adopted a six-ringed logo and renamed itself the "Pielympics" in honor of the London summer games. update Dec 12 Martin Clare won the contest with a time of 23.5 seconds to eat one pie.

The girl experienced a "reversal of fortune".

Sonya Thomas and Colin Shirlow will compete in the oyster eating contest at the Hillsborough Oyster Festival in Northern Ireland will start at 3pm Ireland time (10 am US Eastern). RakeandHerald.tv has a preview of the contest. update Amanda Poole reports Colin Shirlow defended his title with a record tying total of 233 oyters in 3 minutes.

The BBC has a preview of Saturday's eating contest at the Hillsborough Oyster Festival in Northern Ireland, where Sonya Thomas will seek to avenge a 2008 loss where she was defeated by defending champion Colin Shirlow 230 oysters to 191 in a three minute competition. The article incorrectly states Sonya Thomas' previous contest in Northern Ireland was held three years ago; it took place in 2008. The article also lists Sonya Thomas as a resident of New York who is looking to "take the trophy back to Coney Island".
