Totally Driven TV has a report on Takeru Kobayashi's appearance at Harrah's Philadelphia today where he broke two record: he broke his previous cheesesteak record of 24 seconds by 0.4s and a new Harrah's Food Challenge record (1:52) consisting of a cannoli from Varallo, a 10” Margherita pizza from Caffe Napoli and macaroni & cheese from BarleyQue. The Michigan Hooters wing qualifier will be held tomorrow in Roseville before the finals of the regional swimsuit contest that will award a trip to the finals in Florida. Expected entrants include Pat Bertoletti, Tim Brown, Meredith Boxberger, and Craig Reed, who expressed interest in competing in the swimsuit competition (Since he did not compete in the first round on April 18, he is probably not eligible.)

The Spring 2012 issue of SUMOSkinny has a list of Boston eating challenges (page 5) reporting that the same woman holds the house hot dog record at all Spike’s Junkyard Dogs Boston locations. If that is accurate, Matt Stonie’s Spike’s record with 23 hot dogs set in late 2010 has been surpassed. A commenter on a 2009 livejournal entry encountered the record-holder at Spike’s during an attempt to surpass her mark, who said she would come in the next day to reclaim her record if it was broken.

Boston.CBSlocal.com has a list of eating challenges and an iPhone/Android app for locating challenges.

Philebrity reports that Takeru Kobayashi will be at the renaming ceremony for Harrah's Philadelphia (formerly Harrah's Chester) on Friday and will attempt to break his cheesesteak record. Tony Luke will also create a 20 foot long cheesesteak for the occasion.

Meredith "Deep Fried Diva" Boxberger has produced a video about her first (and also last) place finish in the women's division at the Nathan's qualifier in Garden City, MI two weeks ago. update May 8 The Barrie Examiner has an article about Meredith, who was a figure skater for 15 years and now owns a Little Caeasar's Pizza franchise. She will be competing in the Hooter's qualifier in Detroit Saturday.
