BurgerBeast announces that Heart Stoppers Sports Grill in Delray Beach, FL will hold a 3 pound burger eating contest on May 29. It is also holding a contest to choose a new name for the restaurant after the successful legal action by the Heart Attack Grill requiring it to drop its medical theme.

Punching Kitty: Ben Monson set Crown Candy Kitchen record

Punching Kitty has an update on the malt record recently set at the Crown Candy Kitchen by someone claiming to be Kevin Ross. The owner of the Crown Candy Kitchen, Andy Karandzieff, posted a picture of the record setter, and it is definitely not the Kevin Ross who qualified for the 2008 Nathan’s finals.

The “Kevin Ross” claimed to have completed the Pointersaurus, but no information is available on Pointer’s Pizza facebook.

update Barry Stagg reports that the #7 ranked eater (Ben Monson) ate the King Kong Burger challenge in 8 minutes at Ray’s Franks in Houston.

Last night’s Nightline segment about Man vs. Food can be viewed online. Host Martin Bashir calls the star of the program “Alan Richman” in his introduction. John Berman attempts the “Stupid Wing” challenge at Caliente in Richmond in the segment.

Unnamed woman completes Ed Walker’s 5 pound burger

In A Hamburger Today’s blog entry about the five pound burger at Ed Walker’s Drive-In Restaurant in Fort Smith, Arkansas, commenter BillyBob has the following update

Our waitress said that just a few days ago a woman came in, ate an appetizer, the 5lb burger, the mandatory side plate,(that stuff in the first 20 minutes!!)… then desert, then started eating some of her kids’ food. I’d have been concerned for the kids, themselves, at that point! She might start eating on them next!

A comment on the Man vs. Food message board also says that one of the two finishers was a thin woman

The twitter for Big Mama's pizza in Los Angeles reports that the 54 inch pizza challenge was completed for the first time today by a 7 person team, resulting in a $1000 award. Pictures of the challenge (with the identity of several members hidden) are available.

Fox2Now: Randy Santel won $450 after being the first person to finish the 18-inch square pizza at the Pizza Haus in Jefferson City. Santel was also part of the most recent team (with Dan Graham) to complete the Pointersaurus pizza in St. Louis.
