DMagazine reports that Kobayashi will compete in a hot dog eating contest at the Texas State Fair in Dallas on October 16.

Joey Chestnut called Kobayashi’s sponsor “nasty Hoffman crap dogs” and then engaged in a twitter feud with the sausage maker: thread 1 | thread 2 The Sports Hernia has a blog entry wondering if Shea Communications authorized Joey’s tweets.

Takeru Kobayashi will attempt to eat 100 hot dogs without buns at the New York State Fair in Syracuse this evening to set a new record. (The only bunless hot dog record I am aware of it Lynda Kuerth’s mark of eating 23 frankfurters in 3:10 in 1977 recognized by Guinness, which stopped maintaining speed eating records in the early 1990s.) Miki Sudo announces she won the rib eating contest held at the Village Pub in Las Vegas and received a prize of $1,299. Tom Gilbert was the runner-up. The event was her first ever head-to-head eating competition.

Jamie McDonald appears to have won $1000 in the Spicy Wing Challenge held at Buffalo's Chicken Shack in Wood Ridge, NJ today.
The Royal Exchange Hotel in Brisbane, Australia will hold weekly eating contests on Wednesdays for four person teams awarding $400. The finals on October 17 will award $1000.
BGR The Burger Joint will hold a qualifier for the BGR National Cheeseburger Slider Eating Championships in North Tampa September 28. The winner will receive $500 and a spot in the finals in Washington, DC on May 28, 2013.
The Belfast Telegraph reports that Sonya Thomas will be competing in the World Oyster Eating Championship in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland on September 8. Defending champion Colin Shirlow defeated Sonya Thomas in 2008.
