Hooters of Bakersfield has a gallery

Juliet Lee has been announced as the winner of tonight’s Hooters wing eating qualifier at the California State Fair in Sacramento with a total of 137 wings. Joey Chestnut will not participate in the finals July 26 unless he receives a sponsors exemption. (A picture of Joey Chestnut and 1999 Women’s World Cup hero Brandi Chastian at tonight’s San Jose Earthquakes game).

WCBI news reports that Matt Stonie won today’s eating contest held at the Slugburger Festival in Corinth, MS for his first victory in a MLE non-qualifier (or exhibition).

Michael Diebold won today's hot dog eating contest held at the Festival of Discovery in Anderson, SC by eating 22 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Bryan Crocker was the runner up with 20. The contest was restricted to South Carolina residents.

Amarillo Magazine reports that Sarai, a female tiger, ate the 72 ounce steak (with no side items) from the Big Texan in 80 seconds on July 4, breaking the all-species record of 89 seconds. (Joey Chestnut set the human record for the meal with side items with a time of 8:52. I think Carlene LeFevre has the homo sapiens female record of around 30 minutes.)

Las Palapas in San Antonio will hold an Okie Burrito eating contest on August 18 awarding $1,000 to the winner. Weekly qualifiers on Saturdays will award $150 and a spot in the finals to the winners.

The 2012 West Coast Hot Dog Eating Championship will take place at the Derby Deli in Mission Viejo, CA on September 3. Qualifiers will be held on August 11 and 25.

Registration for the gyoza eating contest to be held August 18 at the Nisei Week Festival in Los Angeles opens today at 3 pm Pacific (6 pm eastern) on ifoce.com. The contest will have a cash purse of $5500 and award $2000 along with a Malaysia Airlines business class flight to Japan to the winner.

Joey Chestnut will serve as a celebrity scooper at the San Jose Earthquake's A&W Root Beer Float Night on Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The event is being held to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. (The Hooters Sacramento qualifier is expected to start at 6pm, so Joey Chestnut would not be able to make an unpublicized appearance at that contest.)

(via twitter) Jamie McDonald won the hot dog eating contest held at Fish Tales in Ocean City, MD on July 4 with a total of 35 hot dogs. Nick Rivers and Dale Boone were originally tied for runner-up with 25 hot dogs, but deductions put Boone in third place. (gallery)

Dax "The Ginger" Swanson received billing as the headliner for the final Hooters wing qualifier at the California State Fair in Sacramento on Saturday with Joey Chestnut not having qualfied for the finals in Clearwater, Florida on July 26. (Joey was listed as a participant in the Miami qualifier on June 22, but did not compete.)

CJOnline has an article about Randy Santel defending his jalapeno title at Fiesta Mexicana in Topeka tomorrow. The contest will award $1000 ($500 to the winner). Earlier this month, Randy completed a road trip where he did eight challenges in four states, which cost him only $96.43 due to free food from successful challenges.
