The Charleston, WV Daily Mail reports that Phil Perry was the first person to finish the Behemoth burger challenge at Betty Lou's Diner. The fastest finishing time over the next 60 days will receive $200.
TopCultured has an article about a pizza eating contest between 350 pound "Red Beard" and 128 pound "Flacco Libre". (via Eating the Road)
Grace Lee had an eight pound stuffed burger constructed at a party at the Nook in Atlanta. (It is not clear how much of it she finished)
"Furious" Pete Czerwinski's facebook announces that he ate a 72 ounce steak (meat only, no sides) in 6:48, which will be recognized by Guinness as a world record. Pete also won a contest to guess the number of OMG burgers sold by The Catch restaurant in Anaheim.
Caroline Shin of the Columbia School of Journalism has produced a video about the "Punisher" spicy tequila challenge at Mojave in Astoria, NY.

New Philadelphia area eating challenges

Philly.com has a blog entry about the 5-Pound Philly Challenge at Jake’s Sandwich Board, which consists of a two-foot sandwich, four soft pretzels, a box of Tastykakes, 24 Peanut Chews, and a Champ Cherry soda. The challenge is free if completed in 45 minutes and the first finisher will receive a $100 gift card.

The BRGR Joint in Bryn Mawr has put out a press release about its OMG burger challenge. The OMG burger has 11 patties and Doug “Obi Wing” Petock was a one time record holder.

Kenny's Burger Joint sent out free 7 pound "El Jefe" burgers to D Magazine, Dallas News and Pegasus News and received coverage from all three outlets.
"Furious" Pete Czerwinski will attempt to set a record for eating a 72 ounce steak at the Hamilton, Ontario Tiger-Cats CFL game on Friday.
Felony's Bar & Grill, a new jail-themed restaurant in Hermoso Beach, Fl (Tampa area), has a five pound steak sandwich called the "Jail Break" which requires challengers to eat in a special "cell".
BonnerSprings.com has an article about Man vs. Food recording at Papa Bob's BBQ in Bonner Springs, KS (Kansas City area) where the challenge was the 4.5 pound "Ultimate Destroyer" sandwich. The episode is expected to be televised on August 11.
MLive.com reports that the Rockford Corner Bar in Rockford, Michigan will start adding diners who eat 12 or more veggie dogs to its Hot Dog Hall of Fame, which currently has over 5,000 members. A contest will take place at 6pm tonight to see who will be the first veggie dog Hall of Famer. update Nicole Rowland ate 8.25 veggie dogs, the best of the initial challengers.

WGRZ reports that Man vs. Food will record in two Niagara Falls restaurants in Canada this weekend. The challenge for the Niagara Falls episode will be the 48 ounce rib eye at the Riverstone Grill in Grand Island, NY. Buffalo News reports septuagenarian Marilyn Gratto has completed the challenge steak 8 times.

The facebook for Melt Bar and Grill in Lakewood, OH reports that Christina Palangio was the 8th person (and first woman) to complete the five pound grilled cheese challenge. Her time was 21 minutes (Adam Richman needed 45 minutes on the Cleveland Man vs. Food. )
Health.com has compiled a list of the fattiest foods in each state which contains several eating challenges like the 7 pound burrito at Jack-N-Grill in Denver.
