(From Man vs Food facebook) Digital City has a list of ten steak eating challenges located throughout the United States which concludes with the new challenge at Steak & Main in Maryland, which requires diners to eat five different types of steaks which total 74 ounces.

A picture of a list of burger challenges offered by the Clinton Station Diner can be viewed on flickr. $5,000 will be awarded to a team of 10 diners that can finish the “8th Wonder” burger (listed at 105 pounds) in an hour or less.

“Furious” Pete Czerwinski announces in a bodybuilding.com forum thread that he will attempt February 13 a stunt in which he eats all Extra Value Meals available at McDonald’s, including fries and drinks, in under 30 minutes. A page on furiouspete.com has been set up to accept donations. Proceeds will go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and Toronto Sick Kids Hospital. A video of the attempt will be recorded and uploaded later.

KCRA has an interview with former Sacramento King Chris Webber in the kitchen of his restaurant, Center Court. The chef is preparing a 44 ounce “Fab Five” burger which Webber says is free to a customer who can finish it.
It is not mentioned if the burger challenge has a time limit and if time outs are allowed if there is a maximum duration.

NewsObserver.com has an article about the filming of Adam Richman’s hot dog eating challenge at the Roast Grill in Raleigh for an upcoming episode of Man vs. Food. Richman ate at least 10 hot dogs, but it is not reported if he reached his goal of 17 hot dogs. Jason DiMambro attended the recording and had to sign a non disclosure agreeement that he would not reveal the results of the challenge.

(from BlessYouBoys) The blog for mlive has an entry about the food fair the West Michigan Whitecaps held to test possible new foods for the upcoming season. One of the items was a 5 / 3 pound burger with Spam, sausage gravy, fried eggs and a pickle. The burger’s weight was chosen to promote the holder of the Whitecaps’ stadium naming rights: Fifth Third Bank.

“Furious” Pete ate two 1.5 pound burgers from Philthy McNasty’s in 3 minutes to promote the upcoming US vs. Canada burger eating contest Sunday. A video of this challenge is available on youtube. Pete accomplished this feat despite suffering a (non-gastrointestinal) injury during recording for the National Geographic network on Friday. The film crew thought Pete’s blood was ketchup.

Willie McCovey’s restaurant in Walnut Creek, CA has a 44 ounce burger called the “521” in honor of the number of home runs McCovey hit during his career. The burger is mentioned in ESPN.com’s list of Baseball’s top 10 bars and grill and a video of it is available on youtube.
In other California burger challenge news, a youtube video documents the breaking of the 10 year old record for the Triple Bypass Challenge at 49’rs Tavern in Long Beach.

A emailed press release announces a March 1 contest at Salvador Molly’s in Portland, OR, the challenge restaurant in next week’s Man vs. Food:
So get out your habanero barbells and train your tongue…and your stomach…for this event, which pits contestants against each other to eat as many Great Balls of Fire as possible. The contest takes over Salvador Molly’s, 1523 S.W. Sunset Blvd., in Hillsdale on March 1st, 2009, and the winner gets a prize package from Salvador Molly’s, including a party for a table of 10 at the restaurant.
Diners who complete 5 “Balls of Fire” between January 31 and March 1 will qualify for this contest.

BeautifulBrian.com has some pictures from the 8 pound “Beast” pizza El Toro and an unnamed partner completed from Graziano’s Pizza in Las Vegas, which is the only Nevada pizza challenge offering an award I am aware of.
