Patch.com reports that a minor assault occured during the whoopie pie eating contest at Ribfest in Merrimack, NH on Sunday. Ethan Brown says the incident was more serious.

Miami.com reports that Joey Chestnut and Rebecca Oey, winner of TooJay's amateur contest will compete in the Hooters wing qualifier in Miami on June 22 and Sonya Thomas will do an exhibition. Eric "Badlands" Booker and Yasir Salem are also expected to compete.
Registration is now open for the bratwurst eating contest to be held at Brat Days in Sheboygan, WI on August 4. The contest, restricted to Wisconsin residents, will award $500 and make a $500 donation to a charity of the winner's choice.
Kooky Canuck in Memphis will hold a poutine eating contest on July 1 awarding $400 in gift certificates ($250 to the winner).
Epic Meal Time will hold a live performance in Montreal on July 27.
Jack Loonam has pictures of Erin Duddy, a member of the University of Georgia equestrian team, finishing the 5.5 pound burger challenge at Stuffed Burger in Athens, GA. A Dale will return to the southern half of the MLE circuit today. CharlotteObserver.com has an article about Dale Corzine, who will attempt to compete in the Nathan’s finals after winning a July 4 hot dog eating contest in Rock Hill, SC six years in a row. In addition to previous named entrants, Eric “Steakbellie” Livingston, Yasir Salem, Brian Szontagh, Steve & Dee Martin and “Wild” Bill Myers are also expected to compete in today’s Nathan’s qualifier at Concord Mills at noon eastern time.

Anyone who wants a post-contest tourist activity might want to vist the Charlotte-area sites where The Hunger Games were filmed. The Capitol interiors were filmed at the former Philip Morris cigarette manufacturing plant in Concord, the same town where today’s qualifier is taking place.

update 11:40 MSNBC reports the Subiches are attempting to break a record. If they are attempting to exceed the most hot dogs eaten by a husband & wife, the LeFevres ate 50.5 hot dogs in the 2005 Nathan’s finals. (They ate 45 hot dogs in a qualifier on two occasions, results are after the jump.)

There might be a dark horse in today’s Nathan’s qualifier in Pittsburgh. Jakub Seamus Kelly, born in the Czech Republic, thinks he can eat 30 hot dogs. update Rich Shea says that Brian Seiken and Hunter Hinson are also expected to compete in addition to previously named competitors.

GluttonForceFive.com announces Pat Bertoletti and Tim Brown will attempt four Chicago eating challenges over 43 hours starting June 29. The participating restaurants will donate a portion of their receipts during the challenge attempts to the Chicago Food Bank. (via Matt Strick)
