NESN.com reports that the Joey Chestnut Sampler, consisting of ten buffalo wings, eight chicken tenders, four sliders, four pan fried mozzarellas and six steak & cheese egg roll halves won its contest for the best sports bar menu item in the Boston-area.

The 2013 Hooters wing circuit will start February 1 in Metairie, LA and the Fat Tues King Cake Eating Contest will be held at the Showboat in Atlantic City on February 12. The registration information has yet to be posted. update Registration for the Hooters contest will start at 6 pm eastern today.

Chicago.CBSlocal.com is taking entries from people who hope to represent the Midwest in Wing Bowl 21. The rules restrict entry to residents of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. There does not appear to be any contest or stunt attempt associated with the slot; the entrant will be solely chosen on a sub 500 word essay.

A woman (first name probably Regen) is the first member of Wall of Fame for the 80 ounce steak challenge at Shiloh Brew & Chew in Maryville, TN. (Regen is the second woman I know who finished a steak challenge larger than 76 ounces; Miki Sudo finished a 120 ounce steak last year.)

12 contest 2011/12 MLE contest non-recurrence streak

The third Isle Biloxi Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich Eating World Championship was held a year ago on January 7, 2012. The fourth edition was tentatively scheduled for January 5, 2013. That contest was obviously not held this past weekend, and its non-recurrence will extend a streak of MLE events held 11-15 months ago that have yet to be brought back.

There are twelve competitions listed on www.ifoce.com/contests.php?more=1 between October 15, 2011 and February 11, 2012. It does not appear that any of those contests will take place in Fall/Winter 2012/13. More than 365 days have elapsed since ten of the events were last held. February 2012 had two competitions of CP Biggest Eater, a circuit that has yet to be renewed for 2012-13. Looking further down the calendar, the facebook for TooJay’s Deli announced in November it intends to bring back its St. Patrick’s Day corned beef sandwich eating contest.

Those 12 events have five sponsors: CP Brand, Isle of Capri casinos, Cafe Martorano, Wild Turkey & Jake Melnick’s. Steve Martorano announced he intends to return his meatball eating contest to its original site of Las Vegas in the fall. I have not seen any plans for future competitions from the other four sponsors.

Going by the eatfeats calendar, the non-recurrence streak is at 22 competitions since the CP Biggest Eater events are listed as three separate contests (men/women/professionals). That listing follows after the jump:

On Saturday, Fat Sal's Deli in Los Angeles will unveil the "Fat Jamie", a sandwich designed by Jamie McDonald, who finished the "Big Fat Fatty" challenge last year. Deli co-owner Jerry Ferrara ("Turtle" on Entourage) hopes to attend. update Jan 8 Jamie will be taking on 3 person teams in a "Big Fat Fatty" sandwich eating contest on Saturday.

Au.tv.yahoo.com has a segment about a 5.5 kg burger available in Perth, billed as Australia's largest restaurant burger challenge. A 220 pound "Hangover Burger" was also created in Perth on New Year's Eve.

The Sun has an article about Paul Mason, who has lost over 400 pounds since he was labelled the "World's Fattest Man" in 2009. At his peak weight of approximately 1000 pounds, he ate 20,000 calories a day. The treatments required for Mason's condition has resulted in a cost of over a million pounds ($1.62 million) to British taxpayers.

ESPN 1230/1320 is holding a wing eating circuit at Big Woody's locations located in Lehigh Valley, PA. The finals on February 3 will award $500. Five qualifiers start today and will award $100 and a one night stay in Bally’s Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ to the winner in addition to a spot in the finals. The contest rules restrict entry to amateurs from Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
