Red Dog Saloon in England has started its month-long burger eating contest. The competitor who eats the most burgers in a 10 minute session in July will receive £5000 if he or she beat's Leah Shutkever's record of 13 burgers. Anyone with competitive eating experience must pre-book.

Raina Huang announced that her completion of the Kodiak Arrest challenge at Humpy's in Anchorage, Alaska gave her restaurant challenge wins in all fifty states. I think she is the fifth person and first female to accplish that feat after Randy Santel, Ramsey Hilton, Ivan Mendoza and Nathan Klein.

Paramount has uploaded a clip from the 2012 film, "The Guilt Trip" of Barbra Streisand attempting a 72 ounce steak challenge at a Lubbock, TX restaurant resembling The Big Texan. Barbra did not eat any actual steak for the scene, watermelon was substituted.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of @MollySchuyler eating three 72 ounce steak challenges in under 20 minutes at The Big Texan in Amarillo, TX. Her time of 4:18 for the first meal remains the overall record for the challenge. Here are the other challengers who have finished in under 10 minutes.

  • Geoff Esper 5:08 2019
  • James Webb 6:28 2023
  • Joey Chestnut 8:52 2008
  • Frank Pastore 9:30 1987 (Cincinnati Reds pitcher)

No one else has attempted three steak challenges in a session. Miki Sudo in 2019 and Scott Eats in 2025 finished two challenges.

The Pinnacle Gazette has a post about 34 year old Japanese female competitive eater Ogose Aya, who weighs only 28.8 kg (63.4 pounds) and is 150 cm (5 feet) tall. The weight of Aya and Angela Sato were monitored on a recent TBS program titled "Why So Thin? Exploring the Mystery of Competitive Eater Weight Changes".
