Today marks the 10th anniversary of @MollySchuyler eating three 72 ounce steak challenges in under 20 minutes at The Big Texan in Amarillo, TX. Her time of 4:18 for the first meal remains the overall record for the challenge. Here are the other challengers who have finished in under 10 minutes.

One major reason for mukbang’s decline is the controversy over allegations that mukbang YouTubers secretly spit out or discard food instead of actually eating it. As suspicions arose, some viewers condemned the practice as deceptive, fueling negative public sentiment, especially over food waste. Moreover, while early mukbang content felt fresh, its appeal has faded as countless creators continue to recycle the same formats.

In the latest New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and retired Philadelphia Eagle Jason Kelce discussed competitive eating near the start of the podcast at around the 13 minute mark. Jason talked about receiving a Guinness record for catching with a bun the longest hot dog thrown which followed with Travis talking about his fears of being forced to compete in a hot dog eating contest. Cherish "Five Pounds" Brown was the guest on the latest Food Challenge News podcast. She says she was inspired to start competitive eating by her high appetite while cutting weight to make a MMA class. The "Five Pounds" nickname did not originate with competitive eating, but was given to her by her weightlifting coach since she was increasing the weight she lifted by five pounds with each training session.
