Pat Bertoletti is in Japan for Big Eater Championship 2025, which will be broadcast on TV Tokyo on May 5. Takeru Kobayashi will also apparently appear on the program. Barstool Chicago produced a mini-documentary about 70 year old Frank Wach and his three decade long competitive eating career. The spaghetti and meatballs eating contest that concludes the video took place in March 2024. Joey Chestnut and Tim "Gravy" Brown make cameos.

JoBlo has a post about recent critical comments by Joey Chestnut about Takeru Kobayashi that begun when Chestnut objected to Japanese competitive eating fan Fun Doshiyo’s claim on February 27 that Kobayashi would beat Chestnut in foods other than hot dogs. Chestnut’s criticism escalated as the thread continued.

If he competed against me and other great eaters, I can say with almost absolute confidence that Kobayashi would place 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in every contest. He is a shell of his former self. I think his personal life has taken a toll on his professional life.

Bear's Smokehouse, the Connecticut restaurant founded by former competitive eater Jamie McDonald, is working with the World Central Kitchen to provide food to flood ravaged western North Carolina. They are still offering 2,000 hot meals a day.
